Wennie Lee is an experienced immigration lawyer who holds a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario. She has practiced for the past 19 years in immigration law with frequent appearances at the Federal Court of Canada, and all four divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board. She commenced her legal career with a leading national law firm. A former associate with the civil litigation firm of Misir, Patterson, and a former Partner with Murji, Paterson, Lee.
On establishing Lee & Company she has focused full-time on Immigration Law and Judicial Reviews at the Federal Court of Canada. Many of her cases have been reported in the Immigration Law Reporter and Federal Court Reporter. Recipient of the Education Equity Awards of The Law Society of Upper Canada in 1991, and the Sessional Academic Achievement List, York University. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in February, 2013. In 2018 she received the Outstanding Asian Canadian Award – Canadian Multicultural Council – Asians in Ontario (CMC) and nominated in the Inclusive Leaders Showcase, Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers. Ms. Lee has co-chaired with the Honourable Justice Hughes and the Honourable Justice Diner of the Federal Court – The Practical Guide to Federal Court Advocacy – for the Osgoode Professional Development Program. She is a part-time instructor at Humber College. She is also a part-time public Member of the Discipline Committee of the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC), where she presides over disciplinary hearings. She is a member of the CBA, OBA, RLA (Refugee Lawyers’ Association), and ACCLO (Association of Chinese Canadian Lawyers of Ontario).
